The study was carried out to examine the effect of poverty and cultural practices on girl-child education in Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State from 2011 to 2017. The main objective of this study is to examine the effect of poverty and cultural practices on girl-child education in Soba Local Government Area. System theory by Ludwing Von Bertalanffy was adopted as the theoretical framework to guide the study. The methodology used for the study was survey design and the primary data collections were questionnaires administration, interviews and observation. The secondary data were collected via records and documents. The study used a total sample of 400 respondents. The analysis of data was done using multiple linear regressions, with the aid of SPSS version 20 software. The regression result from the analysis revealed that poverty and cultural practice have significant negative effect on girl-child education in Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State. However, school infrastructures have significant positive effect on girl-child education. The study deduced that poverty hinders girl-child education in Soba local government area of Kaduna state. Therefore, this study recommends among others that community members should be empowered with skills and credit facilities necessary to boost their livelihood.
