Abstract
The research has taken a cursory study on The Role of CSOs in the sustenance of democracy a study of Nigeria from 199-2015. Four research questions; What are the roles of civil society in third world nation with particular reference to Nigeria? What are the contributions of Civil Society in the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria? What are the main contributions of Civil Society in the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria? What are the main challenges and constraints faced by Civil Society in the sustenance and promoting democracy and good governance? How the role and performance of civil society can be enhanced in carrying out their primary duties? The liberal theory of civil society was adopted as a theoretical framework for analysis.
