    PREVALENCE OF TRYPANOSOMIASIS AMONG CATTLE SLAUGHTERED AT MODERN ABATTOIR GUSAU, NIGERIA

    The paucity of data and research report on the occurrence of African animals trypanosomiasis in cattle in Gusau. The study was carried out in a modern abattoir in Gusau. 5 millimeter of blood samples were collected in the slaughter point from one hundred cattle. Out of one hundred (100) blood sample collected 15 were infected for trypanosome species (trypanosome congolence 9(9.0%), T. Vivex 4(4.0%) and T. l,rucei 2(2.0%). This may be attributed to the development of immunity against trypanosomiasisparasite. Regarding to the relationship between age, the rate of infection was highest among adult between the age 5-7 years.

    Based on the information fro th .. m e empmcal study, it can be concluded that most students and Teachers alike, rather prefer smaller classes to larger ones. Consistent with existing research (Glass & Smith, 1979), a positive link between student achievement and class size was found to exist. Most teachers 1 believed that student achievement and improved student behaviour was linked to decreased class size.

    Luffa aegyptica (gourd sponge) belong to the family curcubitacea. It is a climbing annual plant grown in almost all part of the country as weed, possessing both medicinal and nutritional value. The analysis was conducted to extract, identify and compare phytochemical contents of luffa aegyptiaca leaves using different solvents. The result shows the presence of alkaloids, tannins, glycosides, saponin glycosides steroids and balsams.

Many Scholars such as (Davies, 2016, Walecki, 2016 and Ojo, 2015) have written on financial inducement and vote buying in Nigerian politics because of the devastating impact of the phenomenon on the body politics.

    A CRITICAL APPRAISAL OF INEC SMART CARD REREDUCING IRREGULARITIES DURING 2015 GENERAL ELECTIONS IN KATSINA STATE

    This research examined the critical performance of smart card reader reducing rregularities in the 20 I 5 general elections in Katsina State. The aims of this study include: to examine the impact of the smart card readers on the outcome of the 2015 general elections , to identify how card reader promote democratization in katsina state, to proffer solution on how to improved the inadequacy and achievement of the card reader in attainment of sustainable democracy in Nigeria. The research adopted both qualitative and quantitative methods. The research found out that the use of the card reader led to the increase and reinforcement of public confidence and trust in the electoral process, electoral fraud was reduced and election litigations were minimized. The research conclude that considering the massive electoral fraud witnessed in general elections since Nigeria's independence, the card reader should be used for future elections because the introduction of technology has resulted to incremental velopment in Nigerian electoral process. The research finally recommends that All Nigerians should accept the use smart card readers in the conduct of elections at all levels, Both INEC and Ad-hoc staff should be properly trained on the use of smart card.

    The i,tudy was conducted to determine effect of Concept mapping strategy and academic performance in excretion among secondary school students in Funtua education zone, Katsina state. To achieve these, two groups of students were formed; one of the groups the e:{perimental group was exposed to Concept mapping strategy and the other group the control group was exposed to lecture method. The effect ·of the methods in academic performance was deduced. The sample size for the study comprised a total of 43 Senior Secondary two (SSII) Students drawn from two Secondary Schools in Funtua, Katsina State. The Government . d S hool Maska served as the experimental group and the students were Semor Secon ary c . · concept mapping and Government Day Senior Secondary School. Makera was used as control group and the students were taught the same concept using lecture method.

    PHYTOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF JACKAL BERRY (Diospyrus mesi/liformis)

    Ethno medical practice mostly revolves round Phytochemistry. Phytochemical screening of medical plants would therefore help ,discover a wide range of more efficacious drugs safer and cheaper drugs. The various plant parts of Diospyros mespí/iformis were collected from Federal University Gusau. They were oven dried, pulverized and serially extracted by cold extraction procedure starting with methanol. The methanol extract was then serially extracted with aqueous. The result revealed the presence of cardiac glyqosídils, saponin, glyco;ides etc. in various extracts of the various plant· parts. The 'phytochetnieaL analysis' of the root extract of the root, steam and bark extracts of Diospyros mespilformix has opened up a fresh line of research into discoveries of new drugs M.J many classes.- It will be more fortt111ale if the new drngs thereafter discovered have bétter efficacy _and le$S toxicity than the already existing mles' in the classes.

    RAPID DETECTION TEST OF MALARIA PARASITES IN PREGNANT WOMEN ATTENDING ANTENATAL CARE IN NAHUCHE PRIMARY HEALTHCARE, BUNGUDU LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, ZAMFARA STATE, NIGERIA

    Malaria is a life threatening disease caused by protozoan parasite of genus plasmodia that are transmitted to people through the bites of infected mosquitoes. 100 blood samples of pregnant women were collected and examined for malaria parasites using rapid diagnostic test kits. 60 women were malaria positive. the highest prevalence were since in women within 21-26 years age group. The result shows that there is high prevalence of malaria among pregnant women in the study.

    For some time now, the subject of this research has been on the front burner of public discourse through incisive and engaging features. This work highlighted the great potential of Africa and urgent developmental needs of this vital geo- political region of the Niger Delta with critical analysis of the link between the great potential of Africa and urgent developmental needs of this vital geo- political region of the Niger Delta with critical analysis of the link between variables of ethnicity and religion as vital instrumentalities fueling the quest for resource control. This work has also through precise and analytical inquiries traced the historical antecedents of resource control vis-à-vis the environment as the main cause of conflict globally and the Niger Delta situation is such a pathetic one due to the degree of devastation done to it and the complexity of the crisis. The work also looked at the various governmental attempts aimed at giving solution to resource control througJ1 requisite institutional framework like the Niger Delta Developmem Commission and the Ministry for Níger Delta.

    Bacteriological quality of selected fresh metropolis, Zamfora vegetables sold at Tudun-wadamarket in Gusau State, Nigeria was investigated. Three different samples vegetable food samples were randomly purchased he prepared and samples were analyzed using standard coliforms were procedures. Mean viable counts of the bacteria and coliforms were procedures. Mean viable counts of the bacteria and determined on lettuce (l.l6xJ08 cfu/g and 9.89xl08 (l.38x l 08 cfu/g and l. I Sx I O' cfu/g); cabbage cfu/g); cucumber ( l.07x J 08 cfu/g and 9.5xl 07 respectively. Bacillus cfu/g), and Klebsie//a specie, Escherichia coli, S1aphylococcus specie, Enterobacter spp were isolated and also analyzed.

    Five water samples were drawn at random from locally dug well, river, dam and borehole in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State (Northern Nigeria) in two litters of each, 10ml of concentrated nitic acid were added for preservation and evaporated in a beaker and transferred into a planchet till often residue.
