    Cyathula prostrata {Linn} blume {amaranthacea} herd plants uses and chemical constituent were reviewed and also a partial proximate analysis of leaves and stems on dry weight basis performed and the results of leaves and stem was found to be 77.4% and 75.66% respectively.

    DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION AND TESTING OF LASER TORCH-BASED VOICE TRASNSMITTER AND RECEIVER

    This project present the design and construction of laser torch based voice transmitter and receiver is aim at providing a means of communication between two people located within the same area not more than 50 meters. The transmitter section is designed using a condenser microphone, which detect the voice and convert it into an electrical signal. The output of the microphone is given first amplification by driver transistor T1 and it output is modulated by an oscillator signal design using a comparator IC. The modulated output is further amplified by a power transistor T2 and the signal is transmitted inform of light by a laser torch. The receiver circuit on the other hand, a phototransistor T3 which received the light transmitted by the laser torch, and changes it back to electrical signal. The signal is demodulated by a demodulator build around transistor T4 and T5. The demodulated signal is amplified by an audio amplifier IC LM 386 and finally the output is taken by the speaker.

    It is very difficult to convince a country like Nigeria that there would be no more power failure because we are still developing our economy, technology and national strength which form basic prerequisite to a nation with uninterrupted power assessment. It is a lot easier to educate Nigerians on the effectiveness and performance of the inverter. This is a part of what is intended to do in the course of this project by designing and constructing high efficiency, low power dissipation and maximum power output of 1000 watts (inverter) that is good, reliable, portable and affordable.

    This project work of ultrasonic repeller as i mentioned earlier is a circuit developed in order to use it for protection against pest. The circuit is audio frequency oscillator, which is designed using two transistor and a 555 timer IC as the acting components. The current flowing through the different branches of the circuit role determine using the different resistor in the circuit.

    DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF REMOTE CONTROLLED EXTENSION WIRE

    The project is concerned with the design and construction of a remote control system for an extension wire using infrared frequency remote control as the transmitter a free space to the receiver circuit which has infrared detector module that work as the main receiving module is used as a trigger to a monostable multivibrator built using 555-timer IC. The output of the multivibrator is used to drive a decade counter (IC 4017) which is wired as a toggle switch. The output of the 4017 toggle switch is used to put on and off the extension wire connected through a relay.

    THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A MINI-PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM

    This project deals essentially with the design and construction of a mini-public address system. This system shoulg be able to be used with a record player, radio receiver, a tape deck, a car stereo or any similar source. It can also be use privately with a public address system to address the public in large auditorium. This system is based on a very popular integrated circuit known as a TDA2003. The mini_public address amplifier system consist of four stages, rectified power supply unit, pre-amplifier, power amplifier and a loud speaker connected as its output.

    The existing conventional ways in which students and even the general public see timetable is the same. As Electrical students, we thought of a possible way to make the difference, that is why the electronic time table display was brought into limelight. The project comes up with possible means of attracting the attention of the public to be able to see time table even at night. The timetable is designed and constructed in such a way that the Light Emitting Diode (LEDs) were arranged to display the timetable and the alarm to draw the attention of the students. The design basically utilized rectifiers, pulse generator, NE 555 timer and Decade counter (i.e. CD4017) transistors which act as switches to the Light Emitting Diode (LEDs).

    PROXIMATE ANALYSIS OF PTEROCARPUS ERINACEUS (AFRICAN ROSE WOOD OR AFRICAN GUM-ILHA)

    Plants are excellent sources of food nutrients needed by man and his animals for survival, the proportions to which each of the food nutrient occurs in each plant is uncertained. A method qf assessing the levels or concentrations of ash, moisture, lipid, crude fibre, crude protein, and carbohydrate in the leaves ofin pterocarpus erinaceus (African Rose wood-uha) has been drawn by means of proximate analysis using some analytical grade reagents and apparatus following the described methods of AOAC (1990). Based on the results obtained, the percentage compositions of moisture, ash, lipid, crude protein, crude fibre and carbohydrate contents were: 16.00, 14.00, 21.00 28.56, 10.00 and 10.44% respectively. These food nutrients are of great importance to our bodies and are within the recommended values by WHO/FDA/FAO. It has been recommended that pterocarpus erinaceus leaves should form part of our daily meals and more research should be encouraged on the phytonutrients, dietary minerals or heavy metals as well as antimicrobial activity of the plant leaves

    DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF AN INTRUDER DETECTOR NATIONAL DIPLOMA PROJECT REPORT

    This project is aimed at designing and construction of an intruder detector to make impact or break through towards the technological advancement which serves as basis for any meaningful development. The circuit is generally an oscillator that generates an audio signal when a certain connection (wire) is broken. This circuit has an IC AN 7112 as its active component which is responsible for producing the oscillation. Other components like resistors. capacitors, switch, battery, and speaker also contribute their own quota in the design. The audio output signal is delivered to the loudspeaker. When the connection is made. the circuit remains quite but the moment the connection is broken, a very loud audio sound is heard from the loudspeaker to alert you of what is happening. The purpose of the device is to detect the presence of an unwanted visitor who intends to smuggle into our houses, cars or valuables. It is my sincere hope that this project will be beneficial to students in ND, N.C. E, technicians and any person who might be interested.
