Rap music (Rhythm and Blues) is a highly prolific component of a popular culture, which has served as a means of expressing the plight of the black man in a predominantly prejudicial white society. Prior to the advent of written culture, orality was to a very large extent, the main mode of transmitting information and passing down history and legends from one generation to another. This work takes a critical look at the rap music of some black artists and their exploitation of the medium of orality in the United States.Item AFRICAN COMMUNITARIANlSM: A PANACEA TO PROBLEM SOCIO-POLITICAL IN AFRICA(Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba, 2014-05-05) AWOLOPE TAIWO ABIOLA; AWOLOPE TAIWO ABIOLAAfrican communitarianism can be defined as a way of life for all African in their respective society, communalism is the bedrock of the wonderful relationship which exists in the traditional African society. it is the appreciation of communal life in patterning the behavior of member of the society .it simply deals with the individual in the society whereby the individual lives together as one members of the same family, it is based on the brotherhood of all in the community, it promote communal interaction, production and distribution of resource. There is no exclusive private ownership and use of property, although individual may own property, they are readily made available for others use. All individual achievement are seen as an achievement of the community. The individual works for the common well-being of the community and draws from the resources of the community according to his or her own needs. These simply shows that the resources of the land are owned and controlled by all members of the community. These would foster a close-relationship between individual and it will help in building a strong ties among Ethnic groups in the sane community. Grievances, complaints , political restructuring, desires for more freedom and yearnings for a change of government by the people had in the past provided avenues for these dictatorships. It is against this backdrop that this study is examining how dictatorship can be tackled effectively without recourse to anarchy and chaos using Chinua Achebe's Anthills of the Savannah and Nurrudin Farah's Sweet and Sour Milk. The research further examines the relationship between dictatorship and governance, how African writers such as Wole Soyinka, Ali Mazrui, Ngugi Wa Thiong'O among others were able to get involved in the socializing dimensions of governance, and how they were able to successfully articulate their views concerning bad governance in particular and the public decision making process in general.Item ÀGBÉYEWÓODÚN . The following metals were analyzed; iron, copper, cadmium, lead, arsenate, chromium and manganese. The result reveals that iron has the highest percentage concentration in the soil samples provided with 58%. Chromium ranks second with 26%. Lead 2% and arsenate 0%. Cadmium, copper and manganese have 1 %, 1 % and 12% respectively. Scholars have however found it difficult to draw the line between power and authority. This problem emanated from the fact that scholars seemed to have taken these concepts as twin concepts that may be used interchangeably. The aim of this research is to examine the distinction that has been drawn between power and authority and examine that the former is sociological while the latter is philosophical. But when we speak of power in the social, political sense, we are referring to a specific kind of ability, the ability to make other people to do what we want them to do.
